I am an avid reader of fiction and history, and my favorite otome games are the ones that blend these two genres together. I love analyzing characters and the plot and experiencing how they work together to create a compelling story. This blog is the home for my general musings and thoughts about the characters and stories I love to read.

I read otome games like I would a traditional romance novel series. I almost always read one ending per route (usually the canon end for each love interest) and I always use a walkthrough (when I can), so I can get the complete narrative for each love interest. I play in the routes in any order I want and I skip the routes I don’t like. I usually prefer games without an overarching plot that takes the span of all the routes to fully understand. I feel an overarching plot and the need for a “canon” route negates the importance of each individual character route (I’m looking at you Code Realize: Guardian of Rebirth and Cafe Enchante).  And I take (sometimes massive) breaks between routes, so the game stays fresh!

I am a native English speaker and I’m using otome games to slowly learn Japanese. My Japanese language skills are improving, but sometimes I still read English translated games because it’s simply an easier and faster reading experience!

Otomes games are my hobby, and reading them should be fun!
